90% of these comments just let me know that no matter how far we are trying to get away from cheezy pickup lines and acting like a douchebag, most guys just don't seem to get it. I feel like I'm on a high-school forum for either "who can come up with the sappiest line", or "who can make the girl see how much of a tool I really am?"

Guys, your "negs" are completely out of sync with what we have learned from Mystery, Style, DeAngelo, etc. For some strange reason, a forum devoted to PUA material has been reduced to an SNL skit about "how to be an arrogant jackass that thinks he's a stand-up-comedian". Have you learned NOTHING by studying The Game!?

Seriously, 90-99% of you have obviously never read 'The Game', watched 'The Pickup Artist', listened to any of David DeAngelo's material, or basically took the time to find out what REALLY works when approaching a set. You are all dooming yourselves to the lives of a greasy scumbag who knows nothing of the teaching from the masters.

Do yourselves a favor. Next time, instead of trying to be Andrew Dice Clay in your next encounter with a female, politely excuse yourself from the set and go to the bookstore. If you are still stubborn and think that laying on the "I'm so insecure that I have to call you a whore and portray myself as a sexual god" will get you somewhere, please buy a really good book from 1976 on pickup lines. I'm sure "What's your sign?" will be in there if you haven't thought of that one yet.

If you really care, if you REALLY want to know the tactics and maneuvers that are necessary to move your "game" up a notch, then seek out material by the people I've already mentioned. You will immediately find that what is going on in this thread has NOTHING to do with having "game". Your "game" that is on display here is the entire reason that Mystery and his fellow pick-up-artists have devised a distinct method to AVOID having to lower yourselves to cheezy one-liners.

I fully realize that a lot of you are just starting out, and you want to throw in your (what you think) is prime material. I don't fault you for that. Just PLEASE, for all of our sakes, at LEAST read "The Game" by Neil Strauss. I will consider anything you decide to indulge yourself in after that just gravy.

I'm not writing this post to belittle you guys that seem to think that flat-out insulting a woman, or forcing a sexual innuendo on them is the right way to sarge. I'm trying to let you in on material that will change your life. If you are too lazy to figure it out, I have no pity on you when you fail constantly with the Asshole/Douchebag lines. Most of what I have seen here are distinctly NOT "Cocky/Funny". They are the same shitty "pickup" lines that true PUA's have been honing their craft to get away from.

Anyone that is still listening....STOP reading this post for material. The stuff that these guys are putting forth will only hurt your game. Search harder, read the proven material, download some seminars by David DeAngelo, Mystery, etc., and then come back to this thread. Only then will you see how foolish this whole thing is. "Cocky/Funny"? No, almost all of these comments are Arrogant/Douchey. Tool/Cheezy. They go against everything that we are supposed to be learning, and the entire reason we are part of this forum in the first place. Start over. It's not hard. All of the material is there if you REALLY want to find it. Good luck guys. You're gonna need it if you're still telling women that they fell out of heaven or saying that they are flat-out ugly. Negs are a happy medium. You will learn if you bother to find out. Good God.

What you need to do is make a list of the things that you would like to see in a woman. Do you want a woman that is a college graduate? Do you want a woman who is interested in sports? Do you want a woman with or without kids? All of these things are important. When you have these things written down you are going to be taking this thought process serious and will be less likely to settle for just anyone.

After you have decided what kind of woman you are interested in it is time that you go out and find that woman. When you go out to look for that woman you need to make sure that you are going to the right place. Not all types of women are going to be in the same place. You should look for your type of girl in a place that they would naturally enjoy.

If you want a girl that is interested in sports go to some sporting events. If you want a girl that goes to church - go to church! It is really simple to find the type of girl that you want once you figure out where she likes to hang out.

This also means making a snap judgement about what the WOMAN is looking for in a guy. You do not want to adjust our whole personality and demeanor to impress the woman, but if you know there is something she might be looking for in a guy you can make sure she gets it. This is just understanding the different types of women.

#2 LOOK HER IN THE EYE: This shows confidence. It shows you are interested in her. It is guaranteed to be a big positive "check mark" in the girls head for "things that impress her" about you. Woman may want you to notice the way they look, but they do not want to see you staring at their boobs and they certainly do not want to see you looking at other women or not paying attention. Make and hold eye contact. It is a sure way to impress a woman.

#3 BE CHIVALROUS: Open the door for her, pull out her chair, take her coat for her. All of the things guys do in the old 50s movies. It will be noticed and show that you have class. You do not need (or even want) to follow the girl around like a puppy dog, but treating every girl with class and charm will be noticed and will impress her.

#4 TURN OFF THE PHONE: To be extra impressive make sure she knows about it (with a little subtlety). Make a point of turning it off because, "what she has to say is important" and you do not want to miss it. After being with guys who will talk incessantly on their phones and ignore her, this will impress her greatly/

#5 BE WELL GROOMED: You do not have to look like you stepped off the pages of a male fashion magazine. But having a decent level of personal hygiene, and looking well groomed it important. Having a sense of style is also important. Your clothes should also represent YOU. Unless you are a guy who understands style try to get a female friend to shop for you or a female relative of the "right" age. Get clothes that are stylish, not fadish, and work for YOU.

#6 ASK HER QUESTIONS: This doesn't mean give her the third degree, but ask questions to get her talking about herself. Try to find her passions. Once you get her talking about things she is passionate about, you have gone a LONG way toward impressing her, as well as giving yourself things to talk about to keep the conversation flowing.

#7 REALLY LISTEN TO HER: Girls can tell when a guy is not really listening. You may think you are fooling her. But you are not. Try to use active listening to get her talking and keep her talking.

#8 COMPLIMENT HER: If you really want to impress a woman, compliment her. there are two important aspects of this. First off is that you need to be sincere. the second is that you should compliment her on something SHE has control over. Don's just say she is "beautiful". She was probably born that way and she knows it. Be specific and compliment her on things she controls.

Don't say, "your hair looks great" say "that style you use makes you look great"

#9 ASK FOR HER OPINION/ADVICE: One way men and women are REALLY different is with advice. When a woman talks about a problem she wants sympathy. Guys want solutions. Guys will give women solutions to any problem they hear and will rarely talk with women about their problems. We simply do not want sympathy, and the subtext is, "what good advice could she give me?"

That is the reason this one is powerful.

If you directly ask for her opinion or advice on a topic you will shock her. Few guys have probably ever asked her opinion. It shows you respect her and this will greatly impress her.

#10 BE FUNNY, BUT DON'T BE CRUDE: Girls want to have a good time. They want to laugh. Keeping the mood light and fun will impress her. The one warning here is that crude jokes that may be a hit with guy friends really will not work with her. Keep her laughing but work clean.

Since you know what you want in a woman you should be confident when you go after this woman. Confidence is one of the sexiest qualities in a man. You should practice confidence until you actually become confident. It is one of those kind of fake it until you make it type deals.

Chris Brown Apologizes For Beating Rihanna

Chris Brown has finally come forward and apologized publicly for giving Rihanna a beat down. Everyone is freaking out that the video looks rehearsed and he's reading off some kind of prompter. Okay, yeah, so what?

For those of you who spent the last year living under a rock, on February 8, 2009, Chris Brown was arrested for beating up pop singer Rihanna in his car. A week later, rumors abound that Rihanna had reconciled with Chris Brown and her fan base began to dwindle because of the message she was sending out to her young fans.

How much change in the brain makes a difference in the mind?

That's the issue raised by a very interesting comment regarding my previous blog, "The Brain in a Bucket."

So I've taken the liberty of posting the comment here (hoping that's OK in blog etiquette; still learning as I go), and then responding. Here it is:

"I was pondering your statement that long term meditators show a thickening in certain areas of the brain. As I understand it, the volume of the skull is fixed in adults. This would seem to require that if one part thickens, another part must be reduced. I am curious as to whether anyone has considered what the implications of a loss of volume in these other areas might be. I enjoyed your article, and look forward to more on the topic of neurology and meditation."

While the size of the skull is indeed fixed in adulthood, we can both lose gray matter volume due to the normal effects of aging and gain it through mental training of one kind or another. For instance, one study showed that the hippocampus (really hippocampi, since there is one on each side of the brain, but convention is usually to refer to neural regions in the singular), of London taxi drivers is thicker after their training, which makes sense since the hippocampus is deeply involved with spatial memory.

But the size of these changes in volume is very small, so they do not "bump up against" the skull. For example, the increased thickness in the brains of meditators - seen in one of the cooler studies in this field - amounted - to about 1/200th of an inch. This may not seem like much but is a BIG change in the density of synaptic networks when you can fit about 5000 synapses in the width of a human hair.

The point is that small changes in daily activities - meditating instead of sleeping in, driving a cab instead of working in an office - can make changes in the brain that seem small but actually create big changes in the mind. And that fact opens the door to amazing opportunities.
